Lori Poland, CEO of EndCAN releases her memoir

Lori Poland EndCAN’s Chief Executive Officer

Released her Memoir this past July I Live Here is an intimate tale of survival, triumph, and empowerment. This inspirational memoir retells what happened during Lori’s four “missing” days, and chronicles her memories of identifying her abuser, facing his imprisonment and release, and tackling people’s sometimes-unpleasant reactions.

Lori’s story began in 1983 at the age of 3 when she was abducted from her front yard and taken to the foothills of Colorado. After being sexually abused, she was placed 15 feet beneath the ground inside of an outhouse toilet cesspit.

Lori was left for 3.5 days when bird watchers heard her crying and she was rescued.

Her family did everything they could to create a “normal childhood” for her after this event. They didn’t move, they didn’t run, they went about their lives, trying to sludge through it all. And together they were able to do so, not without a lot of struggles and pain. Yet, they muddied through it all.

When Lori was 10 years old, her kidnapper was released from prison after only 6 short years of being behind bars for rape, kidnapping, and attempted murder. This experience was a rehash of the kidnapping all over again. The media, the community, her friendships, it all was altered.

“Life has never been EASY, I get triggered often, I do my work constantly, and I choose to be the change I wish to see in the world.” Lori Poland
