Alli Meyerhardt founded Breaking Silence, a National Organization designed to give voice to survivors of abuse, in the spring of 2014. As a survivor herself, Alli knew that the story many had to share would pave the way to bring an end to sexual assault and domestic violence. She followed this vision and began a nonprofit that focuses on teaching students about the consequences of sexual assault, ways in which they can prevent it, and the realities of consent. Alli graduated from CSU with a degree in History Education in order to become a middle school teacher. As a teacher, Alli learned the importance of giving people a reason to learn. Her skills as a teacher quickly translated into the nonprofit world and she became the Program Director for a small education reform organization in Denver. In 2014, she was invited by Robert Hammond, the Commissioner of Education, to be the representative for the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) on the Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB).
