EndCAN recognizes that the trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic – like an incident of child abuse or neglect – can have a long-lasting impact on individuals and families. Isolation and separation so prevalent in the pandemic create heightened risk for abuse. Children should not bear the brunt of adult stress due to financial hardship, housing and food insecurity, and other caregiver burdens. While the pandemic’s actual impact on child abuse is still unknown, the environment so many endured threatened the safety net so critical to identifying and reporting abuse. Our resource center provides important information to support children and families. And of course, if you suspect abuse, call 1-800-4-A-Child  (1-800-422-4453).
